Al Ahly Set New Records in the FIFA Club World Cup
Al Ahly’s football first team won the second consecutive bronze medal of the FIFA Club World Cup today after defeating Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in the competition’s third-place playoff.
Our players put on a sensational performance tonight and managed to secure a staggering 4-0 victory over Al Hilal at Al Nahyan Stadium.
Following today’s historic victory, the Red Eagles set the following impressive records:
- The Red Eagles secured 6 victories to become the African team with the most wins in the competition's history. Also, we come in third place behind Real Madrid, who won ten matches, and FC Barcelona, who won seven matches.
- Al Ahly became the team with most games played in FIFA Club World Cup. We played 18 matches, overcoming Auckland City FC’s record of 16 games.
- We achieved our biggest victory in the history of FIFA Club World Cup by defeating Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia 4-0.
- Yasser Ibrahim became the second defender to score for Al Ahly in the FIFA Club World Cup after Mohamed Hany, who scored against C.F. Monterrey of Mexico.
- Following today’s game, nine of our players managed to put their names on the scoring sheets of the FIFA Club World Cup. Mohamed Aboutrika comes in first place scoring four goals, while Flávio Amado scored two goals. Also, Yasser Ibrahim and Emad Meteb scored two goals each, while El Sayed Hamdy, Hussien El Shahat, Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Abdelkader, and Amr El Soulia scored one goal each.
